During Riga City Festival the Retro Tram will have a guide

During Riga City Festival “Rīgas satiksme” will provide the Retro Tram tours, where passengers for no extra charge will be offered a guide service. The guide will tell about the cultural and historical objects along the tram route, as well as interesting facts from Riga’s tram history and the renovation process of the retro car.

Guided tours will be run on following Retro Tram voyages: Saturday, August 13 starting from Ausekļa Street at 14:05 and 15:35, from Mežaparks at 15:00 and 16:30. Sunday, August 14 from Ausekļa Street at 10:45 and 12:30, but from Mežaparks at 11:55 and 13:30.  

The passengers of the Retro Tram will learn where the first tram routes were located, why the horse tram was changed for an electrical one, what alternative ways of payment were accepted in the ancient trams, what other means of transport later joined the tram in Riga streets, etc. The guide has also prepared interesting stories and pictures about the origin and development of the bus and trolleybus traffic in the city centre, where the tram route passes through, and in suburbs - Čiekurkalns and Mežaparks.  

Retro tram will run a route: Ausekļa Street - Radio circle - Mežaparks and back to Ausekļa Street’s end station. Not only can passengers during their voyage enjoy a ride in an ancient vehicle, but also admire the most wonderful places in Riga – such as Zigfrids Anna Meierovic’s Boulevard, providing a beautiful view to Opera House; the tram passes by the Freedom Monument, Old Town, Bastion hill (Basteja kalns), National Theatre.  

Price for one way ticket is 2.00 EUR, children below 7 years - free. Tickets are sold by the conductor and are valid till the end of the route.
